Opportunities in Russia: Finnish technology solutions for seniors wanted

Aging of Russian population with the number of seniors expected to grow up to 30 millions is creating attractive opportunities for tech companies serving the elderly. Vozrastech project (translated from Russian as “aging tech”) is launched to create a community around aging technologies and give seniors access to a higher quality of life through tech solutions. The project is looking to bring the best practices from around the world and they’re especially interested in Finnish growing aging tech scene and startups in the field.

Vozrastech project is based in St. Petersburg and is created together with nonprofit organization SICUAP, the first association in Russia specialized in the aging industry. Their network in Russia consists of senior care providers, universities, investors, Ministry of Labour and regional social authorities, pension funds, etc. In Finland, the project team has already worked with Mikkeli and Joensuu Universities of applied sciences, Mediverkko and Lemminkäinen.

Solutions wanted

Key areas of the project are activities of daily living, care coordination, communication and entertainment. Solutions of interest are, for example, voice assistants, smart homes, IoT, PERS, mobile apps for social communications, care management systems, cognitive and rehabilitation training services.

Vozrastech is open for different kinds of cooperation from providing information about Russian market to finding local partners. They plan to organize aging tech conference in St. Petersburg in spring 2019.
