Apply to HEALTH AND RIGHTS INNOVATION EXCHANGE Launch event in Geneva 21-23 May 2019

To realize Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and its 17 interrelated Goals (SDGs), new technologies, service delivery models and financing solutions are required and need to be implemented on scale. Where new technologies are already changing the health landscape often at warp speed, it is critical that governments can harness these as a means to benefit those most vulnerable and marginalized. Today, leveraging innovation is not optional, it is essential to achieve the health-related SDGs. It requires the creation of linkages between new innovations and the needs of countries, as well as connecting innovators to the right funding and investment.

The Health and Rights Innovation Exchange will be launched by UNAIDS in partnership with global health and financing entities to showcase innovations that are likely to deliver large-scale impact for countries reaching the SDG3 targets. The Exchange will provide an opportunity for countries to both showcase innovations as well as learn from each other and from innovators.

Date: 21-23 May 2019
Location: Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland
Partners: Led by UNAIDS, the Health and Rights Innovation Exchange is a partnership that brings together UN entities, member states, academic institutions, innovators, civil society, investors and private sector entities.

Session format: Innovation marketplace from 10 .00 Hrs – 17.00 Hrs 21 –23 May

High level innovation panel with key ministers and industry leaders 21 May 18.30 Hrs (by invitation only)

The innovation Exchange will be launched during the World Health Assembly in May, which brings together as many as 3000 participants, including over 100 Ministers of Health in Geneva. The launch events, taking place over three days at the central location of the UN Geneva Headquarters, will be an opportunity to engage with innovators, policy makers and investors around innovations that have the potential to be game-changers in realizing the health-related SDGs.

An interactive exhibition will showcase 15-20 selected innovations in the fields of HIV, TB, digital health and health systems, with a cross-cutting focus on rights, gender and inclusion. The exhibition will immerse the visitors in an experience allowing them to discover the innovations by linking them to real-life needs of people. The event provides innovators with opportunities to connect with decision-makers, investors, communities, international organizations and implementers from around the world. UNAIDS and the Innovation Exchange will work further with selected innovators to support the creation of strategic partnerships with countries, implementers and investors for linking solutions to needs and funding

An interactive high-level discussion will bring together political leaders and decision makers, health experts, technology and science leaders, innovators, investors, private sec and communities to discuss the needs and solutions for getting to the 2030 targets. Participants will also have an opportunity to connect to the wider SDG innovations ecosystem in Geneva.
